Juanita, owner of Swing Riders Western Emporium, was rumored to have one of the finest collections of vintage cowgirl apparel in the west. I met with her in Sheridan, Wyoming to see about using some of it for a photo shoot. The clothes were so small that they wouldn’t fit any of my models but fortunately, I was able to convince the reluctant Juanita to model the clothing herself. The shirt she’s wearing once belonged to Dale Evans, wife of Roy Rogers. Juanita was just a little camera shy.
The original photograph was made with black and white film. The black and white print was then hand tinted (by me) and eventually drum scanned to create a digital file. Car color is available in various hues: orange, lime green and purple, each of which I also tinted by hand.
Here’s it is in lime green. Which do you prefer? Post your preference in the comment box and be sure to tell me why.
